Report: OMV: Nord Stream-2 may get remaining permits by Sep

MOSCOW, May 21 (PRIME) -- Decisions on the issue of the remaining permits for the construction of Russia-led Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline are likely to be made in late summer 2018, Austria’s OMV CEO Rainer Seele told DPA agency, as cited by Handelsblatt on May 19.

Governments of three countries along the pipeline’s route – Russia, Sweden, and Denmark – are expected to make decisions on permits over the next few months, he said.

Nord Stream 2 AG, the operator of the project, has already received necessary permits from Germany and Finland.

Seele also said that dependence on Russian gas was not a problem for European countries.

The Nord Stream-2 project envisages construction of two lines of a natural gas pipeline with an annual capacity of up to 55 billion cubic meters, running from the Russian shore to Germany under the Baltic Sea. Russian gas giant Gazprom will implement the project together with its European partners – Shell, OMV, Engie, Uniper, and Wintershall.
